The Best Papers and Posters Awards

• Best Paper: "The Utility of Affect Expression in Natural Language Interactions in Joint Human-Robot Tasks" by Matthias Scheutz, Paul Schermerhorn, and James Kramer.
• Best Student paper: "Interactions with a Moody Robot" by Rachel Gockley, Jodi Forlizzi, and Reid Simmons.
• Best Poster: " Challenges to Grounding in Human-Robot Interaction" by Kristen Stubbs, Pamela Hinds, and David Wettergreen.
• Best Student Poster: "Experiments in Socially Guided Machine Learning: Understanding How Humans Teach" by Andrea Thomaz, Guy Hoffman, and Cynthia Breazeal.

These selections were made using three criteria:  (1) quality of the technical content of the poster, as determined by the paper/poster reviewers, (2) quality of the technical content of the work and the presentation, as determined by feedback from conference attendees, and (3) an assessment of how well the work represents the goals of HRI2006, as determined by the Program Chairs with input from the Conference Committee.
